What to Give

There are many types of assets that you can give to realize your charitable goals while supporting the Council on Aging's mission:

Cash

Outright gifts made via cash, check, credit card, or other means are the simplest way to make an immediate impact.

Gift-in-Kind

Give valuable assets that you no longer want to insure or maintain. You may get a tax deduction for your generosity. To inquire about making a gift-in-kind, contact us or call 386-253-4700 x215.

Real Estate

Make an extraordinary gift, transfer the burden of managing the property, and remove a large asset from your taxable estate at the same time.

Retirement Assets

Your IRA can be taxed up to 60% if passed on to your heirs, but there is no tax when it is used as a gift to charity. If you are 70 and a half or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 each year directly from your IRA to Council on Aging and not recognize it as income. Best of all, it also counts toward your minimum required distribution from the IRA for the year.
